From Nordic walking to trail running

Running in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena

Running is still among the most popular outdoor sports – no matter the season. Standard jogging, Nordic walking and trailrunning, all of these activities strengthen the cardio-vascular system, clear your mind, and make your body release endorphins. Good news for sports enthusiasts: On the Tyrolean side of the Zugspitze there are multiple running opportunities.

Local running and Nordic walking routes

In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, every single one of the many running and walking routes has its own particular charm. One day, you’ll run along crystal-clear mountain lakes and expansive fields. The next, the trail leads you to a rustic hut. And if you’re interested in history, you can even jog along the Via Claudia, an ancient Roman road. No matter which route you choose: Nordic walking or running on the Tyrolean side of the Zugspitze is always an exciting adventure– that’s for sure!

Trail running around the Zugspitze

Sometimes, it’s simply time to leave the trodden path. It’s not surprising that many runners head out into the open terrain in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. Trail running is becoming increasingly popular among runners. Remote trails, soft forest floors, blue lakes and scenic views: Trail running is a great way to explore the region at the foot of the Zugspitze from an entirely new perspective.
